Hatfields produce brass, bronze and ormolu for a wide range of clients ranging from interior designers and decorators such as Mark Gilette, Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, Janine Stone and Caroline de Cabarrus.
We manufacture gilded bronze mounts for many private and commercial clients, from drawer handles, doorknobs, window furniture, hooks and decorative pieces to ormolu mounts for collectible bronzes (see above). We can also copy existing items to order and have an archive of mounts previously made by Hatfields to use for templates or as examples of styles. Should you require handles, escutcheons, finger-plates for a restoration or indeed a new project we are sure to have what you need and can produce to order.
A Brass Hall Lantern
Produced by Hatfields, London from our original 19th century design. This is a large lantern that can be made to the customer’s size specifications. The glass in the panes is English hand-blown. The brass is finished as per customer’s choice but the standard is to oil the surface rather than lacquer it, thus giving it a gently aged and patinated look.
Brass hall lantern of hexagonal form, with S-scrolled cresting and foliate finial with pierced anthemions. The hinged door enclosing three scrolled branches, on disc feet. Fitted for electricity.
Solid brass chain can be supplied as extra.
Red Moroccan leather demi-lune commodes. Each with a single frieze drawer and cabinet below. The interior is lined with beautiful birchwood. Red leather is hand-tooled by Bernard Middleton. Brass drawer pull mounts are handmade in Hatfields workshop. The depth is perfect to fit in hallways and corridors.
Middleton has been practising as a bookbinder, and writing about the history and craft of bookbinding, for more than 60 years. During the course of his career, as well as many other major commissions, he has produced an impressive number of gold-tooled design bindings of great elegance.

Stained apple green parchment, the display case is lined in silk, glazed on three sides with English hand blown glass and internally lit. Toughened glass shelves. Custom dimensions and finishes available.
